Rasotsav2026

The Government Physiotherapy College (GPTC), Jamnagar, celebrated its annual Rasotsav Navratri festival with immense cultural fervour, high energy, and active student participation from 11th October to 17th October 2026. The seven-day evening celebration beautifully blended Gujarat’s rich traditional heritage with the vibrant, close-knit community spirit of the physiotherapy campus.

Below is an overview of how the week-long festivities unfolded:

The Auspicious Beginning

The festivities commenced on the night of October 11th with the traditional Ghatasthapana (sacred installation of the goddess) and the lighting of the holy lamp (Garbo) in the college courtyard. Students and faculty members gathered in elegant, traditional attire to perform the inaugural Maa Durga Aarti, setting a spiritual and celebratory tone for the week.

High-Energy Garba & Unique “Physio” Elements

As the rhythm picked up on the second and third nights, the college grounds transformed into a lively dance floor. Hundreds of students from all academic years formed massive, synchronized concentric circles to perform traditional steps like Dodhiya and Tran Taali.

  • A Fun Campus Twist: True to their discipline, students were frequently seen helping peers with quick ergonomic adjustments, hamstring stretches, and calf roll-outs by the side of the ground to keep everyone dancing pain-free through the high-tempo music loops.

Theme Nights & Dandiya Raas

Mid-week celebrations introduced creative dress codes and dance styles:

  • Cultural Splendour: One evening was dedicated to authentic Kutchhi Embroidery and Mirror Work, displaying a stunning array of colourful Chaniya Cholis and Keda-Jodis.
  • Dandiya Clash: The following night shifted focus to Dandiya Raas, where students showcased fast-paced, rhythmic footwork and synchronized stick-striking coordination under dynamic LED campus lighting.

The Grand Competition Night

The energy reached its peak with the much-anticipated Internal Garba Competition. Judged by a panel of college professors and senior faculty for coveted titles including:

  • Best Traditional Attire (Male & Female)
  • Best Garba player (Male & Female)

The Finale Wrap-Up

The celebration concluded on the night of October 17th with an emotional and breathless grand finale. The dancing continued past midnight as the entire college—seniors, juniors, interns, and faculty—united on the floor for the final Sanedo and Pari Hoon Main rounds, marking an unforgettable week of bonding, culture, and stress relief away from academic pressures.
